Meet Mrs. Regina

Regina Covington is the Program Director of Miriam's Dance Academy. Regina is married to Travis Covington and together they have two children. Regina birthed M.D.A. out of a passion for outreach and dance; thus birthing an outreach dance school which seeks to embrace people of different backgrounds. She loves to see dancers evolve from infancy stages to influential dance leaders in the community. Regina has influenced many young girls and women and desire to see dancers of all ages bloom from where they are to who they are becoming.

Regina has a Business Administration degree from NC A&T State University (Greensboro, NC) and a Masters of Business Administration from Ashford University (Des Moines, IA). Her dance training began at the age of 12 at Weaver Dance Academy (Greensboro, NC) where she studied tap, jazz and modern.

At the age of 17, Regina continued her dance experience at Power House of Deliverance Spirit Led Performing Arts where she began liturgical dance. Power of House of Deliverance was the breaking ground for Regina's ministry. The Pastor, Bishop W.L. Washington engaged Regina and pushed her to become the best. At the tender age of 20 her gifts begin to flourish and she began to choreograph for recitals teaching from ages 3 to adult. The Spirit Led Performing Arts team traveled and ministered in dance in several cities. Her love for dance bloomed under the tutelage of Kim Simmons, the Director at Spirit Led Performing Arts. Regina studied modern and liturgical under Kim's direction and was pushed to be her best.

After eighteen years of serving faithfully, Regina began the dance ministry at Tabernacle International Church in 2014, and currently serves as the dance team leader. In 2014 vision began to take place to open a dance academy under H.U.U.R.T. CDC.  Her mission is to bring liturgical outside of the four walls of the church so that people can see the true meaning of liturgical dance and how it reaches souls.

Regina serves on the board of H.U.U.R.T. CDC and is an influential volunteer in the community. She has volunteered as an intern in 2017 at the Dance Project: School of City Arts. In the Spring of 2017 she was given the opportunity to be the guest choreographer at the Arc of Greensboro's, "Dancing on the Diamond" event where her dance won "Best Overall Dance"  as well as in 2019 where her dance won "Most Creative." She continues her dance training taking classes in the city of Greensboro.

Regina is a certified Liturgical Dance instructor under Jocelyn Richards, the Praise Dance Life in Atlanta, GA. [Click here]. Her dance career has begun to expand even more, networking with individuals around the country and beyond.

Regina's passion for dance exuberates from her moves and she is an example of the Proverbs 31 woman and Acts 17:38.

Our mission is to offer worship to God through dance, provide affordable yet quality dance education, as well as outreach opportunities for our students.

Our vision is to embrace culture diversity, dancing abroad and beyond the United States border, reaching people with different backgrounds, languages and ethnicities.

What makes Miriam's unique?

Prayer and love is our foundation. We provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere for our students with structure and technique from our staff. We also teach students the importance of family, community and living principles. We seek to build dance leaders who can empower the community in which they live.

We are here to serve you! Join us on the dance journey!

We give back. A portion of our proceeds are given back to charity every year. One way we give back to the community is through our annual performing arts showcase, which we use as a means of bringing the community together.

We desire to unite people in love. We seek to unite different generations, backgrounds, and ethnicities while bridging the gap between communities.

We use prayer as our foundation and it is incorporated into all of our classes. Our performances are choreographed tastefully and with grace. Our costumes are age appropriate.
